My stay at De Mallemoolen was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the location is fantastic, right in the heart of Amsterdam, making it easy to explore the city. On the other hand, the accommodations were quite basic and could really use some updates and improvements. The steep stairs to the room were a challenge, especially with luggage, and the cleanliness left something to be desired.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was small and cramped, with a bunk bed and two single beds. Accessing the room involved climbing steep stairs and a wooden ladder, which was tough. The cleanliness was questionable, and the bedding felt old and mismatched.
Service
6.0
The staff were generally polite and helpful, but I did encounter some rudeness from night staff. Daytime staff were more accommodating, making the experience a bit better.

Being in the city center, just a stone's throw from bars, restaurants, and only a short walk to Amsterdam Centraal station was definitely the highlight for me. I loved that I could easily explore everything on foot.
Dining

Breakfast was included during my stay, offering a decent spread with bread, cheeses, and meats. It was served in a basement with no windows, which was a minor downside, but the value was good.

Housekeeping was regular, and I received fresh towels daily. However, the shared bathrooms had limited availability, which could be an issue during peak times.

I found De Mallemoolen to be a mixed bag. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from Central Station, and the buffet breakfast was actually pretty good. However, the steep stairs were quite a challenge, and the overall standard of the rooms left much to be desired.

I stayed in a basic room that was clean but tiny, and the decor was pretty shabby. The shower and shared bathroom facilities had seen better days. There wasn’t even a lock on the window!
Service

The staff were friendly overall, though they didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about their jobs, likely because of the tourist crowd. I did appreciate the housekeeping, as I got fresh towels daily.

The location is definitely one of the hotel's strong points, situated in a very busy area of the city. Being so close to the train station made it easy to explore Amsterdam.

Breakfast was a positive surprise, with a decent selection that helped fuel my mornings. The coffee was good, too, which is always a plus.
Facilities

The hotel had basic facilities, like housekeeping and ticket assistance, but not much else to speak of. The steep staircase to the rooms was quite a drawback.

The location made my stay at De Mallemoolen very convenient. just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal and near all the vibrant attractions. However, the steep stairs were quite a challenge, especially with my luggage. Overall, while there were some cleanliness issues, the friendly staff and included breakfast were highlights of my experience.

My room was decent for the price, particularly for being in such a central area. although I did notice some dirt under the bed and shared bathrooms were not as clean as I had hoped.

I had a mixed experience at De Mallemoolen. The location was fantastic, just a couple of minutes from the Central Station, making it super easy to navigate Amsterdam. However, the condition of the rooms left much to be desired. while I appreciated the breakfast, the overall cleanliness and comfort were lacking, especially regarding the bed and shower facilities.

I found the room I stayed in to be quite shabby with a small, broken window. the bed was uncomfortable, and the lack of sound insulation was bothersome. I had to navigate steep staircases to reach my room, which was a hassle with luggage.

The reception staff were honest about the wifi issues, but overall they didn’t seem motivated to help. I experienced a mix-up with my room keycard, which added to my frustration during the stay.

Breakfast was decent. though not as great as advertised, it provided a good start to the day. There’s also a nice creperie nearby for quick bites and better wifi.

I was disappointed with the overall cleanliness. especially in shared bathrooms and common areas. Additionally, the wifi was unreliable, despite being offered for a fee.

My stay at De Mallemoolen was a mixed experience, highlighted by an excellent location and friendly staff, but marred by some uncomfortable room features and steep staircases. The breakfast was a nice addition but could benefit from a wider variety. Overall, it fulfilled my basic needs as a budget traveler.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was quite small, and navigating around the furniture was a bit tricky. While it had the essentials like a TV and a sink, the shower facilities left something to be desired, and the mattress was quite lumpy. I also noticed the room had a slight smoke odor when I first entered, but it aired out quickly.
Service

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made my stay more enjoyable. They were available 24/7 and assisted with any queries I had, including maintaining luggage storage when I checked out.

Being so close to Amsterdam Centraal Station and the red-light district was a definite plus! I could easily walk to many attractions and explore the area. Despite its vibrant surroundings, I felt relatively safe during my stay.
Dining

Breakfast was included, which I appreciated. It featured a satisfactory range of options, including meats, cheeses, and fruits, which suited my morning needs well, even if the setting was a bit drab.
Facilities

The lack of an elevator and the steep stairs were notable inconveniences, especially when carrying luggage, but I understood this is a typical scenario in Amsterdam. The common toilets and showers were kept clean, which I appreciated.
